Energy Application

GreEnCat Lab. is looking for ways to solve the on-going energy crisis by applying advanced catalyst materials to various energy conversion systems. We have a specific interest in hydrogen fuel (H2), as it shows great promise to meet the surging demand for alternative and clean energy sources.

 

- Hydrogen Processors: We are interested in both chemical and electrochemical production methods, such as catalytic hydrocarbon steam/autothermal reforming, CO2 dry reforming, water gas-shift reaction (chemical method), and hydrolysis (electrochemical method).

 

- Hydrogen and Electric Energy Systems: By analyzing our developed materials and their reaction mechanisms, we look to design efficient electrodes for PEMFCs (Polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells), SOFCs (Solid oxide fuel cells), and battery systems.

 

- Other Catalytic Reactions: Our lab is working on bioenergy processes such as biodiesel production (transesterification), glycerin/ ethylene glycol conversion, and also petrochemical processes including (amm)oxidation, adsorption, and separation.
